Hockey Skate Sharpening

Why Get Your Skates Sharpened?

Keeping your blades sharp is an important part of hockey. Not only to increase your performance and grip but to improve the longevity and quality of your skates as well. Skating on dull blades can hinder how sharp you can cut and how much grip you can get on the ice.

How Do I Tell That My Skates Need To Be Sharpened?

There are a few signs that your skates need to be sharpened. The first would be you notice a loss of grip on the ice. Next would be realizing you can't cut or turn as hard as you need to. Lastly, you can do the nail test on the edges (careful not to cut yourself!). We recommend that you get your skates sharpened every 15 hours of ice time, but everyone is different. It all comes down to preference. Ask our team about our sharpening punch card!
